Authenticity

What is authenticity? Many would say that it's simply the art of being yourself. But "yourself" in what context? On this planet earth, there can exist many different selves as one discovers all of the various roles that one can play in life. These different roles can all be superficially induced by society at large. In which case, they exist as mere attitudes and beliefs that one feels are appropriate to any given situation.
But the self that we are referring to is the self that experiences all of these different roles. It is the self upon which these many different roles are placed. If you believe that your self equals whatever role you are playing, then you can only hope to be authentic to the situation that you find yourself in. In other words, your primary allegiance will be to that which exists outside of you.
If, on the other hand, you understand that your true self is that changeless being that feels and experiences underneath all of those roles, then you will have found the truest origin for all of your actions. This understanding is no minor discovery. For you will have found the actual source of authenticity, that which emanates from your divine, immortal self.
Now this true self is no ill-defined "blob" of energy. It possesses a character and demeanor all its own. It is therefore your task to uncover the truest nature of your real personality and thus coax that self into its own unique expression. This is the meaning of authenticity. To be authentic to one's innermost being.
The most appropriate way in which to begin this is through the arts. Find that which inspires you. Inspiration is a gift from the soul, as it lets you know that it is alive and well. Inspiration is that which beckons you to reconnect with whatever it is that you truly feel. Seeking inspiration is like looking for gold. You are never sure where you will find it, but when you do, its glimmering beauty is unmistakeable.
If you are bored in life, then make it your practice to seek inspiration. Many people instead look for distraction. But distraction only serves to produce yet another layer of unconsciousness. Inspiration is thrilling. It will awaken you in ways that you may not imagine. It is a product of the soul seeking food for itself. Inspiration validates the existence of your soul, for it awakens that soul into your daily life.
From here the soul can begin to express itself whether through music, art, physical movement, or otherwise. The important thing is that you allow the soul to express. This is the key to fulfillment. Authenticity occurs when your soul can be viewed as that divine, immortal light that imbues the physicality of your existence. Authenticity is God in motion.
Let inspiration ignite the soul into awakening. When you feel that light come alive within your consciousness, then allow it its appropriate avenues of expression. In this, you will find the true meaning and experience of authenticity. In this you will find your strength. And you will be rewarded with an unfathomable prosperity of consciousness!
